Breaking: Possible AOL/AIM log-in

From the Seattle Times:

A University of Washington student who has been missing since March 5 may have signed on to her online AOL account Wednesday night, according to her father.

Edgar Perez said his daughter Marizela Perez or someone using her account, logged into her AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service.

Relatives in Connecticut noticed that her AIM icon was lit up on a friends list, indicating the account was online.

“They saw she’s online,” Edgar Perez said. “We’re not sure it’s her or someone else logged on. Hopefully she’s sending messages to friends. Hopefully she’s the one who logged on.”

Perez was carrying her laptop when she disappeared.

The information has been passed on to the Seattle detective who is investigating her disappearance.
